bmw m1 concept

I’m not particularly keen on BMW’s. Sure they look nice, and riding in one is a great experience, but every rich wanker and his dog drives one. So with this in mind, here is the new concept M1. Could you imagine driving through Norwood and seeing every third car being one of these. Would look more like a sports car convention.

i think it’s going to be a long long time

Found this great set of pictures on Daily Mail of Yves Rossy who has built a custom set of Carbon Fibre wings that along with four customised minature jet engines allows him to become the worlds first real Rocket Man (ahhh… that explains the stupid heading). What’s even more impressive is that Elton John has already sung the soundtrack for Rossy, so any footage that is posted on YouTube should have a great soundtrack.

Wait… There is a video, and it doesn’t even have good sound. There goes my theory. Ohwell, it’s worth watching anyway because it is so unbelievebly cool to see the thing going full steam.

So if you considering buying me a christmas present this year, this is the one and only thing I would love to have. Should shave 80% of the travel time going to work. And if I get one of these I’ll drop my nagging about getting a motorbike.

Knew this would be atleast viewed by the Star Wars nerds and the graphic design nerds would read this. Over on Ironic Sans work has gone into trying to replicate Darth Vader and Princess Leia. I think it looks pretty good.

On a side note, I’m rather impressed with the handmade design of the Ironic Sans blog. Love the hand drawn edging.

the internet comes to life

Probably the funniest video I have seen for a while. Weezer have released their film clip for Pork and Beans, taking off some of the best Internet Memes floating around. Can’t quite believe they managed to find all these people, and got them to do appearances in the video. What a laugh….

coolest r2d2 android ever

R2D2 has been getting a lot of exposure lately. Maybe its because robotic technology is getting better, or maybe it’s because he’s far more fun that his bore of a cousin C3PO. Either way, a lot of interest has increased over this cute and innocent robot. First there was the trashcan, then a pepper grinder. Then a couple of people sent me links to one that responded to voice commands and was remote controllable, but the ante has just been upped. Now, he’s a full multimedia system that is both remote controllable, and works like a complete projector & DVD system.

It’s a video you have to see to believe.

Great comeback at the Apple Air adverts that have been floating around the web and tv.

roadkill plush toys

Another gem of a website I have stumbled across, and this one made me laugh. Road Kill Toys is creating a range of plush toys, and with a company name like that I don’t need to tell you what the toys look like (the image above helps too).

nudes in the wild

Photographer Jordan Matter has been doing a series of photos around New York City, with people getting in their nuddie, or bare breasted if you want to talk “grown up” talk. The premise of his shoots is an exploration of nudity and sexuality in America. The idea flowing from the commonplace of nudity in the wild, compared to the stark reaction it generates in cities and highly dense populations.

The process is not intended to objectify women, but rather celebrate them with a bit of tongue in cheek humour injected. It’s an interesting concept, and it is getting a lot of coverage over in the USA.

Personally, I just liked the photo.

More can be found on it by clicking here.

the effects of drugs illustrated

The website WallOut has been running a fantistic little collection of pictures showing how different drugs affect vector based stick figures. I love them on two levels, firstly because of the humor and secondly because of the design. Its so good that I wish I had thought of it myself.

Take the time to view these images. They are great… Click here to get your smiles started.

kaibo zonshinzu anatomy scrolls

I stumbled across these very grusome anatomy scrolls painted in 1819 by Kyoto-area physician Yasukazu Minagaki. So they are old, but none the less important. They are really quite interesting as they depict the bodies in pain, as if they were alive when the autopsy began. And considering the practices that occurred back then, who’s to say that it didn’t happen that way.

I figured this would be good to share, considering the morbidity levels of some of my friends and family. If you think that you fit into this category then check out all of the scroll’s pictures shown on Pink Tentacle.

picking apart west virginia

Any wonder why West Virginia fell to Hillary Clinton over Obama in the primaries? John Stewart think he has an answer. Tis funny, but in a sad way. I can’t believe that people are so old school in their thoughts. Ohwell.

sex on two wheels

Ducati have released a new 849cc bike. It’s leaner and meaner than before weighing no more than a standard 600cc bike. And the design is even more gorgeous. It’s days like this that I wish I was a single irresponsible twenty year old, with the funds to splash on a bike and a Kill Bill motorbike suit. Of course I would need a samuri sword strapped to my back while I rode the city looking for targets to eliminate.

giant nes controller table

Imagine a huge NES controller, designed to replace your lounge room table. Now imagine how great it would be to actually control your NES system with it. Well imagine no longer. The people at Ultra Awesome blog have built one, and I’m quite jealous.

the continuous killing in iraq

Just finished reading another post on the Last of Iraqi’s blog. It’s probably the saddest blog post that I have read. It must be so terrifying to feel so helpless.

Sometimes the facts just get in the way. This is a painful but somewhat satisfying video of Chris Mathews grill one of the Bushees.

a bearish day on the playground

Ever woken up to find some bears playing on your children’s playground? I may not be able to answer for you, but I can probably guess that the answer is no. Well imagine the surprise of waking up and seeing a group of bears checking out your newly constructed playground that you have built for your 3 and 4 year old children.

If nothing, its a great laugh.

segway eat your heart out

Found this cool new electric vehicle on Core77, built by Canadian teenager Ben Gulak. It’s effectively the equivalent of a Segway, using gyroscopic processes to keep the user balanced and on the seat. When sitting on it, you tip the machine backwards and forwards. Reminds me of something Jobe would use (obscure Arrested Development reference).

remember this?

Remember the day a goofy US President flew as a co-pilot in a plane to finally land on the USS Abraham Lincoln, to show everybody that the war in Iraq was finished. That was only five years ago, this month. How wrong could one statement possibly be.

Hence the name George F&%$tard W Bush.
